Autumn Feeding Advice for Dairy Cows
Grass quality inevitably declines as we move into the autumn, therefore, it is more important than ever to be aware that the feed quality, along with the quantity is critical to ensure milk yield is sustained.
It is important to look at all ingredients on the label and ensure that you are getting the best value for your money.
When being quoted the UFL of a nut ask for the value on an 'as fed' basis with minerals and cal mag included in the calculation. The UFL on a dry matter basis will be considerably higher. The cow is producing milk and supporting a calf at the moment therfore it is important that she is kept in optimum condition.
